Helping Animals for Katie: The Cause

In Memory of Katie

animal lover 🐾  Wisconsin Humane Society volunteer

Katie Kreger was a young person loved by all the organizers of this event. She lost her life in 2021, at age 18. Katie struggled with her mental health during her life, but she was so much more than her illness. Katie was an independent spirit, a lover of fun and humor, a sister, a daughter, a granddaughter, cousin and niece. While she was with us, Katie delighted in animals of all kinds, and was often seen out and about with her family and her pet bunny. In addition to volunteering at the animal shelter, Katie helped foster many animals at home. Because the Wisconsin Humane Society's mission was so important to Katie, we are raising $10,000 in her name for the organization's Kenosha Campus.

WHS has promised us that if we meet our goal, Katie will have a permanent memorial at the Kenosha Campus: They will name the volunteer room for her. When a young person dies, it leaves a hole in the world that can never be filled. Still, we hope that this permanent tribute will help more people get to know Katie's heart and share her love for animals.

The Wisconsin Humane Society’s mission is to make a difference for animals and the people who love them. The organization takes in stray animals and reunites them with their families or finds them new families. They also offer spay/neuter services, vaccine clinics, a pet food pantry and many more services to help animals. The funds raised in Helping Animals for Katie are earmarked for WHS's Kenosha Campus.
